Role Overview

Clera is hiring a Founding Engineer for Computer Vision and Robotics to join the early engineering team in San Francisco. The professional in this position will transition perception capabilities from experimental stages into dependable factory deployments that identify manufacturing issues and support upcoming robotic automation.

Key Responsibilities

Construct perception systems covering detection, tracking, classification, temporal understanding, and 3D vision.
Solve vision challenges including motion blur, camera motion, variable lighting, occlusion, and changing viewpoints.
Collaborate with technical colleagues to convert field failures into upgrades for models, evaluation processes, and data.
Build geometric vision functions such as pose estimation, calibration, coordinate transformations, and localization.
Train, debug, and optimize PyTorch models utilizing real-world and synthetic data.
Streamline low-latency inference and deploy systems onto edge hardware within manufacturing facilities.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience creating and deploying applied machine learning, robotics perception, or computer vision systems outside of lab or notebook environments.
Background in delivering real-time perception systems that operate dependably under shifting real-world circumstances.
Proficiency in Python, OpenCV, and PyTorch for creating and debugging tracking, classification, or detection models.
Familiarity with geometric vision, production inference optimization, and edge deployment.
Capability to take technical ownership of underspecified problems from start to finish, including direct user and field deployment interaction.

Nice to Have

Background in synthetic data, Sim2Real, SLAM, VIO, depth reconstruction, 3D reconstruction, TensorRT, CUDA, ROS2, or robot learning.
