Role Overview

BlueCrest Capital Management seeks a Forward Deployed Engineer for the AI Team within Front Office Technology in London, England, United Kingdom. The position focuses on establishing a governed foundation for artificial intelligence, building secure access to firm data, and deploying reusable AI services that operate safely within a regulated trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate directly with product managers, traders, and quantitative researchers to scope use cases requiring engineering build.

Develop production-grade applications using standard firm tooling and AI-assisted development platforms.

Pair with pod developers during live builds to share good practices in software design, testing, code review, and safe agentic tool usage.

Transform repeated requirements from pods into reusable Model Context Protocol servers, agents, skills, and templates for firm-wide application.

Integrate governance features such as audit trails, per-user identity, and evaluations into every solution from the initial development stage.

Facilitate the operational handover and graduation of successful applications into formal Technology ownership.

Track the measurable business impact of delivered solutions regarding risk reduction, time saved, and decision support.

Requirements

Minimum of five years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python and SQL.

Direct front office working experience at a bank or hedge fund, interacting day-to-day with traders or portfolio managers, preferably within Rates or Emerging Markets.

Practical background in constructing LLM applications, covering context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, tool use, agents, and output quality evaluation.

Daily utilization of agentic coding tools alongside an understanding of their limitations and review methodologies.

Demonstrated history of shipping production systems utilizing APIs, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and cloud environments such as Azure or Kubernetes.

Ability to scope loosely defined desk requests and challenge redundant proposals.

Nice to Have

Experience building Model Context Protocol servers or comparable tool integrations.

Familiarity with time-series and market data systems including Snowflake and Bloomberg.

Background in integrating with existing front office tooling and collaborating with supporting teams.
