About this role

The Field Robotics Deployment Lead is a full-time position based in Mountain View, California, with heavy international and domestic travel, suited for an automation professional with industrial robotics experience. This role focuses on managing end-to-end robot system installations, site preparations, and operational frameworks for generalist intelligent robots.

Role Overview

The Field Robotics Deployment Lead manages end-to-end execution of robot deployments, covering site preparation, installation, commissioning, and Site Acceptance Test sign-offs. Based out of Mountain View with remote start options available due to travel requirements, the position requires international rotations starting with Germany from October 2026 through January 2027, followed by US customer site travel exceeding 50 percent. The professional in this role builds initial operational frameworks, trains contract operators, oversees service partners, and collaborates closely with application engineering, development engineering, and remote operations center teams.

Key Responsibilities

Own site preparation, robot installation, system integration, and commissioning at new customer locations in logistics and manufacturing.
Lead on-site technical troubleshooting during commissioning for robots, Safety PLCs, sensors, and conveyors.
Facilitate Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Test sign-offs with customer technical teams to ensure production-readiness.
Coordinate deployment schedules, dependencies, permits, and environmental health and safety requirements with internal engineering teams.
Design and implement operational runbooks, error response procedures, escalation paths, and shift handover standards.
Train and onboard contract operators at each site while establishing documentation and quality standards.
Manage local service partners by defining scopes and service level agreements, overseeing hardware training, and directing callout processes.
Capture field learnings, failure modes, and edge cases to feed structured insights back to engineering and customer success teams.
Develop maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, and spare parts bills of materials.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on industrial experience.
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial robotics or industrial automation deployment, commissioning, or field engineering.
Hands-on electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills including work with multimeters, oscilloscopes, VFDs, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and industrial wiring.
Track record of executing Factory Acceptance Test and Site Acceptance Test processes and commissioning automation systems at industrial customer sites.
Linux command-line proficiency with familiarity in reading Python scripts, shell commands, and basic Docker or container operations.
Experience with ROS or ROS2, or an equivalent industrial automation background with a willingness to learn ROS2 quickly.
Strong documentation habits for writing runbooks, standard operating procedures, and handover documents.
Availability to start in October 2026 or within a few weeks of an offer.
Valid passport, valid US driver's license, authorization to work in the United States, and the ability to travel internationally and domestically 70 percent or more.

Nice to Have

Prior experience deploying or commissioning robots at US automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, agricultural or heavy-equipment manufacturers, or logistics operators.
Familiarity with ANSI/RIA R15.06, ISO 10218, ISO/TS 15066, OSHA machine-guarding requirements, and lockout/tagout programs.
Experience with Flexiv Rizon arms, ZED cameras, or comparable industrial robot platforms.
Background writing and maintaining operational standard operating procedures and field playbooks.
Experience training non-technical operators on robotic or automated production equipment.
Experience managing contractors, external service partners, or multi-site field operations.
