About this role

Someone who thrives on navigating ambiguity, possesses deep expertise in human-systems interaction, and brings exceptional cross-functional leadership will enjoy this position. Advanced Space is seeking a Deputy of AI Integration & Assurance in Westminster, Colorado, to accelerate the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence across engineering, mission operations, and business functions. Reporting to the Chief AI Officer, the person in this role will sit at the intersection of organizational transformation, internal product development, systems thinking, and mission assurance.

The team builds technologies for lunar exploration and beyond, including work on NASA's CAPSTONE mission. The incoming deputy will work directly with engineers, operators, and leaders to identify high-impact AI workflows, build internal AI products, and establish robust verification methods to ensure systems operate safely and reliably. Both onsite and remote candidates are considered, though remote team members must travel for regular on-site visits to the headquarters.

What you will do

  • Partner with engineering, mission operations, and business teams to identify workflows where artificial intelligence can improve speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Design and lead role-specific adoption programs that build durable organizational capability and measure return on investment.
  • Work with technical counterparts to define requirements, lead discovery, and manage prototyping for specialized internal AI products and tools.
  • Establish frameworks for autonomous verification of engineering analyses, operational work, software, and AI-agent outputs.
  • Design evaluation approaches that test whether AI systems achieve underlying operational intent while mitigating risks like hallucination and overreliance.
  • Translate AI capabilities and limitations into clear operational guidance for both technical and nontechnical audiences.

What you need

  • Bring 15 or more years of relevant experience across organizational change, capability-building, program design, or cross-functional initiatives.
  • Hold an advanced degree or equivalent experience in human factors, systems thinking, organizational psychology, education, social sciences, management science, or a related field.
  • Demonstrate an exceptional ability to understand how people perform complex work and translate that knowledge into improved processes or tools.
  • Design assessments, evaluations, experiments, or other evidence-based methods to measure operational outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and in person with both technical experts and senior leadership.
  • Operate efficiently within an ambiguous and rapidly evolving technical environment while exercising sound judgment regarding risk and automation limits.

Nice to have

  • Applying generative AI or agentic systems to real organizational workflows
  • Experience in engineering, mission operations, aerospace, defense, safety-critical systems, or high-reliability environments
  • Product discovery, internal product development, user research, or service design background
  • Familiarity with AI evaluation, human-in-the-loop systems, model behavior, or AI safety concepts
  • A PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant social-science, education, behavioral-science, or human-systems discipline

Benefits

  • Base salary between $150,000 and $190,000
  • Signing bonus
  • Quarterly performance bonuses
  • Company-sponsored medical benefits and 401(k)
  • Flexible time off
  • Relocation assistance if applicable
