About this role

Appier needs a data scientist to find operational levers in high-volume ad traffic where millions of bid requests per second require constant optimization. The selected professional will examine campaign, auction, and user behavior logs to locate performance gains, run strict A/B tests, and coordinate directly with engineering, product, and machine learning teams to push changes into production.

The analytics team operates closely with machine learning scientists and operations staff to shape bidding algorithms and creative delivery. A successful candidate possesses a strong investigative drive, questions convenient assumptions, and refuses to leave anomalies unexplained while leveraging AI tools to accelerate analytical workflows.

Operating out of Tokyo or Taipei, the incoming team member will bridge raw data and live system improvements. Candidates who combine rigorous statistical grounding with cross-functional influence will find the right environment to drive measurable business value.

What you will do

  • Mine campaign, bidding, and user datasets to uncover high-leverage opportunities for online campaign optimization and formulate testable hypotheses.
  • Investigate metric shifts and contradictory data to identify true root causes rather than superficial correlations.
  • Collaborate across machine learning, product, creative, engineering, and operations departments to guide initiatives from initial insight to production impact.
  • Design, execute, and evaluate a high volume of A/B tests on live campaigns while establishing performance guardrails and ship decisions.
  • Build metric frameworks, underlying datasets, pipelines, and dashboards that enable stakeholders to monitor campaign health independently.
  • Incorporate AI assistants and agentic tools into daily workflows to scale analytical output.

What you need

  • Possess at least 3 years of practical experience in data analytics or data science within a product- or performance-driven organization.
  • Demonstrate a strong statistical foundation covering experimental design, hypothesis testing, power analysis, and online experiment evaluation.
  • Show proficiency in Python and expert-level SQL skills alongside hands-on experience handling large-scale data with PySpark or comparable distributed frameworks.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of machine learning adequate for collaborating with scientists and assessing real-world model impact.
  • Exhibit a proven ability to translate complex analyses into actionable decisions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have

  • Experience in programmatic or digital advertising including RTB, DSP, ad networks, and metrics like CTR, CVR, CPA, ROAS, and win rate
  • Experience with causal inference or building experimentation infrastructure
  • Experience building dashboards using Looker, Tableau, Metabase, Grafana, Superset, or code-based libraries
  • Experience building automated or agentic analytics workflows with LLMs
