About this role

Based in Prague, this on-site position involves building real-time perception models for humanoid robot workspaces and suits professionals with extensive computer vision experience who enjoy mentoring junior team members. Revel Robotics seeks a Computer Vision Engineer to join the Prague lab on a full-time, on-site basis.

Role Overview

This position focuses on developing perception systems that allow the humanoid robot GENESIS to see and understand its workspace in real time. The professional will transform recordings of human work into models tracking hands, tools, and objects in 3D, and deploy those models onto the robot. Working within a small Prague-based perception team alongside robot learning and data collection groups, the engineer will help establish engineering standards and support junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Build 3D hand, tool, and object tracking using multi-camera and wearable recordings of manual work.
Develop detection, segmentation, pose estimation, and 3D scene understanding to support robot manipulation skills.
Calibrate and synchronize multi-camera and depth setups in the lab and on the robot to maintain long-term accuracy.
Create reproducible training and evaluation pipelines encompassing data, labeling, dataset versioning, and experiment tracking.
Design practical evaluations based on robot requirements rather than benchmark scores and diagnose real-world model failures.
Deploy models for real-time inference on the robot onboard GPU using tools like ONNX, TensorRT, or quantization.
Coordinate with robot learning and data collection teams to determine recording needs and future perception requirements.
Establish engineering standards within a small team environment.

Requirements

Three or more years of hands-on computer vision experience in industry or research using self-trained models on real camera data.
Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
Strong fundamentals in linear algebra and 3D computer vision.
Deep learning foundations in vision fields such as detection, segmentation, pose estimation, or 3D vision, coupled with rigorous evaluation skills.
Practical background in handling real cameras, calibration, multi-camera setups, noise, lighting, and latency.
Experience transitioning models from training to real-time inference on edge devices or robots.
Good engineering practices including Linux, Git, clean code, and reproducible experiments.
Clear communication regarding technical limitations, receptiveness to critique, and ability to defend evidence-based ideas.
Fluent English language skills for daily collaboration across locations.
Availability to work full-time on-site in the Prague lab.

Nice to Hand

Experience with hand and body pose tracking or egocentric video.
Familiarity with depth sensors, point clouds, 3D reconstruction, IMU, and sensor fusion.
Background in visual SLAM, VGGT, or other modern neural network-based computer vision methods.
Hands-on hardware integration of sensors onto robots or product prototypes.
Knowledge of image processing pipelines from raw sensor data to JPEG.
Experience with ROS 2, OpenCV, NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, or Polars.
Exposure to vision-language-action or foundation models.
Publications in robotics, machine learning, or computer vision.
