About this role

First Due is seeking a Cloud Security Software Engineer for a remote position based in the United States. This full-time role suits an ambitious builder with strong technical talents and a passion for agentic AI frameworks.

Role Overview

As a Cloud Security Software Engineer at First Due, you will operate as a fast-paced integrator within the security plane of the company's technology. You will translate complex system specifications into production-ready autonomous AI tools. Working under the guidance of the Vice President of Cybersecurity, you will handle project scopes like agent-driven workflows for FedRAMP High Cloud-Native SIEM platforms and Tier 1 Agentic SOC environments, shaping the future of safety software for fire and emergency medical services.

Key Responsibilities

Build out agent-driven workflows for platforms including FedRAMP High Cloud-Native SIEM and Tier 1 Agentic SOC.
Develop Triage Agents designed to ingest, enrich, deduplicate, and disposition massive sets of data continuously.
Construct Investigation Agents capable of executing multi-step, read-only investigations through governed tool interfaces to assemble evidence bundles.
Create Reporting and Threat Intel Agents that autonomously gather, normalize, and draft operational reporting from system ledgers.

Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required.
Active Secret clearance or a previously held Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain or reinstate it.
Strong programming foundation in Python, Go, or TypeScript with the ability to create production-grade systems.
Demonstrated experience with AI and Large Language Models, including autonomous agents, local model frameworks, or advanced coding assistants.
Ability to translate intricate system requirements, such as architecture documents and security control catalogs, into functional autonomous AI tools.
Familiarity with cloud-native security concepts encompassing identity, logging pipelines, least-privilege design, and secure API interactions.
Understanding of agentic patterns like tool-use orchestration, multi-step reasoning, prompt-injection resilience, and autonomous workflow design.
Strong debugging and reasoning skills for benchmarking agent precision and reducing false positives at scale.
Comfort operating in a high-velocity environment where you ship code frequently and own its autonomous actions.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Ability to obtain a Security+ certification within the first year of employment.
Demonstrated skills with the FedRAMP iridium baseline FedRAMP-I.
Successful completion of a criminal background check and E-Verify participation.

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible, and cloud-native automation pipelines.
Experience with SIEM and SOC workflows, log ingestion patterns, and evidence-bundle generation.
Background in designing or consuming secure tool interfaces like the Model Context Protocol or governed API layers.
Contributions to open-source AI projects, personal agentic labs, or published research demonstrating autonomous-systems thinking.
