Role Overview

Silver seeks a Senior AI Engineer to join the data team at Carefull, an artificial intelligence platform focused on financial safety for older adults, banks, and credit unions. The person in this role will develop, assess, and refine core AI systems designed to analyze financial transactions and alert families to potential fraud or errors. This hands-on position requires researching scam patterns, creating detection logic, writing production code, and managing features from initial concept through deployment and measurement.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deploy new artificial intelligence-driven detection features from prototyping to production.
Construct data enrichment pipelines to extract structured details from unstructured financial transaction records.
Research fraud and scam typologies targeting older adults and convert findings into scalable detection rules.
Develop reproducible evaluations utilizing test sets, performance metrics, and error analysis.
Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and release fixes.
Fine-tune artificial intelligence pipelines for accuracy, speed, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with customer care, go-to-market, and partner teams to address user requirements.
Monitor advancements in large language models and agents for practical applications.

Requirements

Strong Python programming abilities with experience creating data pipelines and production systems.
Practical background in deploying large language model applications in production, including prompting, structured outputs, and provider SDKs.
Experience deploying and operating software on a cloud platform.
Proven ability to establish evaluations, interpret precision and recall, and analyze errors.
Track record of independent end-to-end project ownership.
Curiosity regarding financial systems, money movement, and scam patterns.
Capability to handle ambiguous scenarios where solutions depend on context.
Clear written and verbal English communication skills for documentation and stakeholder presentations.

Nice to Have

Experience working with regulated industries or banking partners.
Exposure to elder care, aging-in-place, or financial vulnerability research.
Background in data science or machine learning beyond large language models, such as statistical modeling and anomaly detection.
Familiarity with AWS services including Lambda, CDK, Bedrock, Redshift, and DynamoDB.
Experience with observability and tracing tools like Langfuse or LangSmith.
Background in fraud detection, fintech, risk, or compliance.
Experience handling financial transaction data such as ACH, Zelle, wires, and card payments.
