Role Overview

Twitch seeks an Applied Scientist to join the GTM Science team in San Francisco, CA. The professional in this position addresses complex challenges in content contextual signals, creator sponsorships, brand safety, and advertising. Responsibilities include leading high-profile projects, developing machine learning products, and collaborating with cross-functional groups to deploy models into production services.

Key Responsibilities

Construct machine learning solutions to improve content understanding and support creator and viewer community discovery.
Initiate, plan, and direct impactful projects by selecting appropriate classical or state-of-the-art machine learning models based on customer requirements.
Partner with engineering and product teams to transition prototypes into scalable data pipelines and machine learning services.
Advance team science practices by researching and testing methodologies in large language models, computer vision, inference, and model evaluation.

Requirements

Hold a degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Engineering.
Possess five or more years of practical industry machine learning experience with a Bachelor's degree, three or more years with a Master's degree, or one or more years with a PhD.
Demonstrate background in large language model evaluations and leading multi-person projects involving engineers and scientists.
Show ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Prove technical proficiency in Python, SQL, open-source machine learning frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow, and cloud development platforms like AWS.

Nice to Have

Hold a PhD specialized in Machine Learning.
Bring background in computer vision, large language model inference, and content understanding.
Accumulate one or more years of experience in go-to-market, content, or creator organizations.
Demonstrate familiarity with the company's business model and community.
