Role Overview

The Applied Data Scientist takes charge of the complete machine learning lifecycle at Nift. The professional in this role focuses on real production environments rather than purely academic research. Responsibilities include exploratory analysis, data preparation, advanced modeling, thorough testing, and post-launch evaluation to directly improve how users connect with relevant brands.

Key Responsibilities

Own the entire funnel of applied machine learning work from initial idea generation to live production.
Build, enhance, and deploy sophisticated recommendation models that align with primary business objectives.
Solve complex deep learning problems in operational settings rather than relying solely on offline experimentation.
Conduct exploratory data analysis, data preprocessing, feature development, and predictive modeling.
Design and execute experiments, evaluating model success using key performance indicators tied to business results.
Collaborate closely with engineering and infrastructure teams to successfully productionize models and scale systems.
Continuously optimize recommendation quality, personalization depth, and overall business performance metrics.

Requirements

Bring at least 5 years of professional experience working within production data science environments.
Demonstrate robust, hands-on ability to transition machine learning models into live production.
Possess strong practical deep learning expertise, including expected proficiency in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
Bring direct working experience with recommendation systems, or relevant background in bidding or dynamic pricing.
Maintain advanced coding skills in Python and SQL.
Show proven experience handling data at meaningful scale within high-volume environments.
Demonstrate the capability to evaluate model performance through tangible business outcomes like revenue, conversion, or churn.

Nice to Have

Hold a Master's degree combined with strong production experience.
Possess a PhD accompanied by meaningful, production-grade practical work.
Bring a background in software engineering, particularly involving built pipelines and production systems.
