About this role

BETA Technologies develops electric aviation technology to support sustainable flight and aircraft development. The engineering group constructs the agent, retrieval, data pipeline, and deployment infrastructure that drive advanced systems and internal partnerships. Engineers in this division implement orchestration, tool calls, grounding, permissions, and automated evaluation workflows to support aircraft development. Qualified candidates bring a background in software engineering or machine learning along with a readiness to document technical assumptions and collaborate across multiple disciplines.

What you will do

  • Coordinate closely with the Lead Applied AI, Digital Engineering, Program, BETA OS, and IT/Cybersecurity teams.
  • Produce and maintain working agents, system integrations, evaluation results, and operations dashboards.
  • Support the Program Director and Chief Engineer by reducing decision and communication latency while keeping outputs grounded in controlled data.
  • Document assumptions, interfaces, decisions, risks, and verification needs in configuration-controlled engineering records.
  • Communicate status, unresolved issues, and recommended actions clearly in technical and program reviews.

What you need

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrate at least three years of relevant engineering or complex-product experience.
  • Bring experience with requirements, interfaces, architecture, configuration, verification, or multidisciplinary product integration.
  • Possess the ability to structure and maintain traceable technical information and drive cross-functional actions to closure.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of aircraft development, safety, configuration control, and design-review practices.
  • Show the ability to communicate technical assumptions, limitations, risks, and recommendations clearly across disciplines.
  • Qualify as a US Person for the role.

Nice to have

  • Applied AI, optimization, agent, digital-thread, or engineering-software experience in a regulated or safety-critical environment
  • Experience integrating commercial and internal engineering tools through APIs and controlled data pipelines
  • Experience with model evaluation, observability, security, data rights, or human-in-the-loop approval workflows

Benefits

  • Restricted Stock Units and Performance Stock Units
  • Onsite healthcare in Vermont, comprehensive medical coverage, dental, and vision
