Role Overview

MeridianLink offers a US Remote position for an AI Engineer II to build the trust and explainability layer of their shared AI runtime platform. The role focuses on tracing, evaluation, and explanation capabilities to help engineers understand multi-agent workflows and enable product teams to show appropriate explanations to customers. The position involves a strong collaborative relationship with the Security Operations team to align trust guarantees and threat models.

Key Responsibilities

Build tracing across the platform's gateway, orchestration, memory, and tool layers based on designs from team leads and architects.
Construct correlation links across agents in single multi-agent workflows, managing handoffs, parallel branches, and retries.
Develop developer-facing trace views and human-readable explanation layers for agent actions.
Create platform primitives such as explanation records, confidence metadata, and provenance summaries for product teams.
Evaluate, integrate, and extend open-source observability, tracing, and evaluation frameworks.
Build and maintain evaluation framework components including golden datasets, test runners, scoring pipelines, and regression reporting.
Implement adversarial test suites and automated test suites to verify tenant isolation and safety guardrails.

Requirements

Handle a broad range of work independently, from bug fixes to feature development.
Write reliable code, participate in code reviews, and proactively surface blockers.
Write tests covering shipped functionality, monitor issues, and document implementation decisions.
Actively use AI-assisted development tools on a daily basis.
Apply judgment regarding appropriate explanation levels within regulated lending and account-opening contexts.
