2027 Summer Intern, BS, Depot Automation
About this role
The Systems Engineering team at Waymo integrates software and hardware systems to establish rigorous performance standards and validate safety for autonomous vehicles. Within this group, the SysEng Commercialization team focuses on scaling depot operations efficiently by building requirements, test infrastructure, and diagnostic pipelines that maintain fleet movement. A Bachelor's student will join this summer internship to design low-latency data pipelines and develop responsive front-end dashboards for real-time depot telemetry.
This position exists to help engineering teams unblock operational issues as they emerge and improve situational awareness for ground staff. The successful intern will collaborate closely with triage engineers and operations personnel to gather requirements, iterate on designs, and write maintainable code using test-driven development. Ideal candidates bring a strong grasp of data processing, full-stack implementation, and a focus on reliability in critical systems.
